People’s Choice Awards: Triathlon Ireland Awards
It's time to vote!
The awards honour the top achievements and most inspiring individuals across all areas of our sport this season, from high performance to domestic racing – including volunteers, clubs, and coaches. This celebration of everyone contributing to the growth and success of our community and sport.
The Triathlon Ireland 2024 Awards will be held at the Carlton Hotel, Blanchardstown, on Saturday, November 16th.
We want to hear from you! Make sure you submit your nominations by 9am on Monday, 21st October.

2024 Race of the Year
Any race which hosted a Major event in 2024 shall be eligible for the Race of the Year Award. The award will be decided by a mixture of technical criteria, decided by a panel of Triathlon Ireland events and operational staff members and public vote. The technical criteria will consist of Event Organisation (submission of event plan; quality of marshals, transition, finish line) Technical Official’s report, communication with Triathlon Ireland and Race Officials and speed of submission of race results.

2024 Volunteer of the Year
The Volunteer of the Year Award aims to shine a light on the remarkable work of volunteers around the country by celebrating them on a national level. The award is a unique opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to ordinary people doing extraordinary work across the country. Any current member of Triathlon Ireland is eligible to win this award, which will be decided by a panel of Triathlon Ireland staff members.

2024 Club Coach of the Year
The club coach of the year award is open to all Triathlon Ireland qualified club coaches.
We are looking for nominees who have made an outstanding contribution to their club members through coaching, supporting and developing their club members in a safe, fun, athlete centred environment. Someone who has shown a commitment to self development and a passion for all things coaching!

Club of the year
The Club of the Year nomination should be made by the club committee only. If you think your club should be nominated contact your club committee and tell them why!

This award recognises triathlon clubs that have performed in an outstanding manner over the course of the last 12 months. This includes carrying out successful participation programmes, community involvement, good governance, promotion of triathlon as a whole, and planning for the future.

Spirit of the Year Award
This award recognises those individuals who illustrate the principles of the positive spirit of the sport as displayed through acts of sportsmanship and leadership in multisport, with no deference to athletic ability. Any current Triathlon Ireland member shall be eligible for nomination in this category and can include (but is not limited to); athletes, coaches, volunteers, technical officials, club committee members and race directors.
“The nominee should be someone who fits one or more of the following criteria: Embodies the spirit of the sport, contributing with a selfless, inclusive attitude; Has achieved something extraordinary within or because of triathlon; Has overcome the odds to be involved in triathlon; Has inspired others to strive for their personal best within triathlon. Nominations should be a written or a video entry. Written entries should be 300 to 600 words in length and videos should be no more than four minutes in length. Entries should outline why this Triathlon Ireland member should be recognised with this award.”

Technical Official of the Year
All qualified Triathlon Ireland Technical & Motorcycle Officials (technical delegates and referees) who have been appointed to a Major Event in 2024 are eligible for this award. “Award Type: Official of the Year (to incorporate MOs) Criteria: All qualified Triathlon Ireland Officials who have been appointed to a National Series, National Championship, or International Major Event in the preceeding season are eligible for this award. The award will be allocated based on an Official’s communication, fairness, and commitment to the role.”
Caroline Kearney Award
The Caroline Kearney Award is given annually to recognise exceptional contribution to the sport of triathlon by a female athlete. The award is decided by a panel consisting of Triathlon Ireland’s President, CEO and Women’s Participation Lead.
High Performance Athlete of the Year
The High Performance Athlete of the Year Award recognises and celebrates the exceptional achievements of an athlete within the Olympic, Paralympic, Multisport or Long Course triathlon programmes who has delivered the most outstanding performance over the past year. It acknowledges their standout performance, whether through breaking records, achieving remarkable victories, or displaying extraordinary leadership in their sport.
High Performance Paratriathlete of the Year
The High Performance Paratriathlete of the Year Award recognises and celebrates the most outstanding performance by a paratriathlete over the past year. Whether through remarkable victories, record-breaking achievements, or exceptional sportsmanship, this award celebrates the athlete’s standout performance and their contribution to the growth and visibility of paratriathlon.
High Performance Junior Athlete of the Year
The High Performance Junior Athlete of the Year Award recognises and celebrates the most outstanding performance by a Junior athlete over the past year. This prestigious award is given to an individual who, despite their youth, has demonstrated exceptional talent, determination, and competitive excellence in their sport.
Tri team age group - male and female
The Tri-Team Age Group Award seeks to recognise an individual athlete who has shown commitment, team spirit, outstanding performance or contribution during a World Triathlon or Europe Triathlon Event.
