2026 Triathlon National Series

The highly anticipated Triathlon National Series returns in May 2026, bringing another summer of racing around Ireland! The series will deliver 18 rounds of racing from May to September, set against some of Ireland’s most scenic backdrops.

With races in all 4 provinces, athletes of all levels – both new and experienced – can choose from a range of distances, unique courses and scenic locations to suit their goals. Ambitious triathletes will aim for the competitive Triathlon National Series title, which is awarded at our annual Triathlon Ireland Awards.

How to be part of the Triathlon national series

The Triathlon National Series is open to adult athletes who want to compete for national rankings across Sprint and Standard Distance events.To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years old by December 31st to take part in Sprint Distance races, and at least 18 years old by December 31st to take part in Standard Distance races.

To qualify for the series rankings, you need to complete four races. These must include at least one Sprint Distance and one Standard Distance race. Until you meet these requirements, your name will appear in the rankings as “NYQ” (Not Yet Qualified).

Rankings are separated by gender and include both overall standings and age group categories.

You must be a full member of Triathlon Ireland to earn points in the National Series. Athletes competing under a One Day Membership (ODM) are not eligible for rankings. Relay teams are also excluded from earning points.

Junior Triathlon National Series

The Junior National Series is designed for younger athletes who are ready to compete at a national level within their age group.

To take part, you must be aged between 16 and 19 by December 31st of the current year.

To qualify for the Junior National Series rankings, you must complete four Sprint Distance races. Only events that are officially part of the Junior National Series count toward this total.

Junior athletes are ranked by gender, and the rankings include both overall and age group categories. Each race counts toward two separate rankings: points in the National Series (based on how you finish among all competitors), and points in the Junior Series (based on your position among junior athletes).

All participants must be full members of Triathlon Ireland. ODM holders are not eligible for Junior rankings, and relay teams are also excluded.
