Triathlon CLUB COMMUNITY LEAGUE

Say hello to the Triathlon Club Community League – a new league for the triathlon community to earn points for their club in a brand new format, bringing every club and more events across the country into a single competition structure.

The Triathlon Club Community League will join the Triathlon National Series and Duathlon National Series as a place for the multisport community to celebrate swim, bike and run.

The Triathlon Club Community League will be hosted by My Tri Ranking, kindly powered by Triathlon Ireland Finance and Insights Partner AccountsIQ. This introduces a system where every race, every club and every club member can contribute. It moves beyond a purely performance based model and creates a structure where participation, consistency, and community all matter.

At its core, the league is built around a simple idea: clubs are strongest when more people are involved.

We know you will have lots of questions, and so there is a full explanation on the league below, and on the FAQ page.

how does it work?

The scoring system is based on three things: participation, performance, and club engagement.

  1. Participation

Clubs are ranked based on how many of their full, swim plus, U23 and age 16-19 junior members complete at least two triathlon sanctioned events in Ireland during 2025.

So, the more members a club has actively racing, the better.

  2. Performance

Age-normalised scoring ensures that athletes across all age categories can contribute fairly to their club. Performances are adjusted using a consistent model so that results can be compared on a like-for-like basis across Triathlon Ireland members.

  3. Club Score

All of these age-adjusted scores are added together, and an average is calculated for each club.

This total is then combined with the club’s participation rate (the percentage of full, swim plus, U23 and age 16-19 members who raced at two or more sprint/standard triathlons).

Clubs score well by getting lots of members involved and having members who perform strongly relative to their age group – not just by having the fastest athletes overall.

A Competition For Every club member

The Triathlon Club Community League brings all athletes together into a single club based structure, regardless of age or ability. Using age-normalised scoring, performances are compared on a like-for-like basis, ensuring that contribution is recognised across the whole community.

Whether you are a first-time triathlete, a consistent participant, or a high performer, everyone has a role to play.

every event matters

For the first time, all Triathlon Ireland sanctioned sprint and standard distance triathlons can contribute to a single club competition.

From local races to Triathlon National Series events, participation across the entire calendar now feeds into one system.

The result is a more connected season, where every start line becomes an opportunity for clubs to progress, compete, and celebrate together.

A new structure for club competition

The league introduces a four-division format, creating a clear and competitive structure across clubs nationwide.

Clubs will move between divisions each season, creating meaningful competition at every level, while maintaining the opportunity for progression and growth.

This is not about replacing existing competitions. The Triathlon National Series continues to recognise individual performances and the Club Triathlon National Series rankings, while the Triathlon Club Community League introduces a complementary structure focused on club contribution and community engagement.

Together, they create a more complete competition landscape for the sport.

Year One – Setting the Foundation

The 2026 season will act as the first year of the Triathlon Club Community League.

Divisions have been seeded using 2025 rankings to provide a clear and objective starting point. Current league tables reflect how last season would have looked under this system, giving clubs an early view of how the competition operates.

This first year is about establishing the league, building engagement, and allowing clubs to understand how they can maximise their impact.

From 2027 onwards, the league structure will be fully shaped by club results and participation across the previous season.

Getting Involved

There is no separate entry required for the Triathlon Club Community League.

Athletes will automatically contribute to their club by:

  • Holding a valid Triathlon Ireland Full/Swim Plus/U23 or Age 16 – 19 Junior Membership
  • Being a member of a Triathlon Ireland affiliated Triathlon Club
  • Completing at least two sanctioned sprint or standard triathlons during the season.

Participation happens naturally through racing, but the impact of that participation is now greater than ever.

The Triathlon Club Community League represents an important step forward for the sport, creating a clearer, more engaging, and more inclusive competition structure for clubs and triathletes across Ireland.

It is a league built not just on results, but on participation, community, and collective success.
