Webinar: Women In Sport Week 2022

Starting Out & Getting Back

To celebrate Women in Sport Week 2022, we will be hosting a special webinar on Wednesday, 9th March at 8pm. Whether you are new to the sport, returning after a break or gearing up to take on more triathlon challenges in 2022 – this one’s for you!

What’s in Store?

Joanne Murphy from Tri Talking Sport will be hosting the evening, alongside our amazing Beyond the Finish Line Advocates and Munster Development Officer Eleanor Condon.

Panel One

The first panel discussion will focus on getting started on your triathlon journey, what equipment you need (and don’t need!), how to join your club, where to start, how to enter an event, open water swimming, the list goes on! There’ll also be a Q&A at the end of the session – if there’s anything you’ve always wondered about triathlon, this is the place! You can be guaranteed others will have the same question. Joanne Murphy will host the panel, with:

Eleanor Condon
Triathlon Ireland Munster Development Officer

Ellen Ryan
TriTanium TC

Olivia McCartin
Athlone TC &
Level 2 Triathlon Coach

Claire Tynan
Belpark TC

Triathletes Claire and Ellen will share their experience starting out in the sport, and the adventures they have had so far! Experienced coach Olivia McCartin will be able to help with your training questions, and Eleanor Condon will be on hand to answer any queries about joining a club.

Panel Two

Discussion during the second panel will focus on returning to sport after a break, and getting back to training with a club or racing, or both!

After the last two years, many triathletes will be returning to racing and training in a way we haven’t experienced since 2019. But returning to sport isn’t just for those returning post-pandemic, it’s also for those returning after injury or illness, post-partum, or after taking a break for any number of reasons.

Panellists Fiona O’Donnell, Amy O’Keeffe, Máire-Tríona Keane and Diane Cordner will chat with Joanne Murphy about getting back to sport, and their experiences over the last couple of years. We look forward to hearing about their plans for 2022, as well as Diane’s coaching journey. Diane recently qualified as a Level One triathlon coach, having started the process during lockdown. Fiona has also recently started her coaching qualifications and will have lots to share after her first weekend of training!
