Results: 2023 Duathlon National Series
This winter and spring the 2023 Duathlon National Series has toured the country with 11 rounds and almost 1,000 competitors – the largest duathlon competition in Ireland.
In the coldest months, hardy duathletes dusted off their race kits, added some layers and got running and biking. The result? A series that saw some fierce competition at all levels, with the overall titles coming right down to the finale at the Phoenix Park National Champs.
Starting in Naas and taking in Limerick, Louth, Waterford, Galway, Lisburn, Kinsale, Athy and finishing in the Phoenix Park this year’s clubs put in a huge amount of work to welcome duathletes to their community – congratulations and thank you!
Both the men’s and the women’s titles were retained for the second year running, Ciara Wilson and Anthony O’Brien are the 2023 winners.
Two in a Row for Ciara Wilson
Ciara Wilson has started her 2023 season as she means to continue, three podiums from three starts, a national championship title and the Duathlon National Series overall win! All confidence giving performances as Wilson heads into the World Duathlon Champs in Ibiza this week.
Ciara’s points were earned by winning Setanta Duathlon in the middle of March following a third place finish at Naas a few weeks prior.
Heading into the Duathlon National Champs it was all to play for between the top seven women in the table and whomever won in the Phoenix Park would be the series winner. Ciara Wilson left it all on the course to ensure her win in both the National Champs and the 2023 Duathlon National Series.
Off the back of a stellar 2022 season, Piranha TC’s Megan Roberts was top of the table on a perfect score heading into last weekend’s Duathlon National Champs. Wins in both Athy and Naas paved the way for a strong showing at the Belpark’s Phoenix Park Duathlon, where she finished third.
Predator TC’s Emma Boyle won the Intervarsity National Champs and was fifth overall in last weekend’s Phoenix Park Duathlon. En route to third in this year’s Duathlon National Series, Emma earned her points through finishing second at Knockma Duathlon, and winning this year’s Limerick Duathlon.

O’Brien Does the Double
Anthony O’Brien proved unstoppable this winter and spring, earning the perfect score of 2400 from his three starts, perfect prep for his International Age Group debut at the World Duathlon Champs in Ibiza this weekend!
A win in Dungarvan at Metalman Duathlon and second place at Tramore Duathlon for experienced duathlete Enda Bagnall saw him head into the National Champs right in the mix. A bronze medal at the National Champs secured a second place finish in the 2023 Duathlon National Series for the Eden Tri Club athlete.
Peninsula Triathlon’s James Graham is always one to watch on the start line, and he had a solid start to 2023 with third place in the Duathlon National Series. James’ win at Setanta Duathlon started his points haul which was followed the next week by second place at SERE Lisburn Duathlon. Just off the podium for fourth in the National Champs secured third for Graham in the series.
