2016 Reviewed – Standard Distance National Championships
Hell of the West hosted this year’s Standard Distance National Championships – ensuring that whoever took home a medal had proven themselves against some of the toughest terrain in any race on the island.
More than 1,000 competitors lined out for Hell of the West, with the Cat1 males and females starting their non-drafting Super Series events first before the Age Group athletes got their race underway by heading in to the challenging swim in Kilkee Bay.
Mintern and Tighe Take the Titles
Chris Mintern and Laura Tighe ended up winning what were two very memorable races with both athletes overcoming strong fields to take the title of National Standard Distance Champion.
