Tri The Lough Hosts 2026 Triathlon Ireland Paratriathlon National Championships

Paratriathlon Lead, Rusell White OLY, commented: 

“With a strong core international group of carded athletes it is superb to see the Development Pathway growing immensely. Having that ability for the development athletes to see the level of international athletes, while in return seeing the pathway looking healthy behind them – and fast approaching across all classifications.

The weekend before the Triathlon Ireland Paratriathlon Championships, we hosted a two day camp to allow athletes to familiarise themselves with the course and learn from each other.

It gave our Development athletes the opportunity to have a similar experience to an international event where course familiarisations are provided leading into the race.

Creating a safe a comfortable environment to take away any unknowns come race day is hugely beneficial, and was a huge success – and hopefully creates opportunities that make the jump to international racing in the future smoother.

A huge thanks much go to Omagh Triathlon Club for hosting for a second year and super Triathlon Ireland Technical Delegate Padraig Benson for ensuring how much of a priority the Paratriathlon event was given to ensure success for everyone.

As the season progresses we look towards the World Paratriathlon Championships grand finale in Pontevedra, Spain for our carded athletes – and potential international race experience going forward for our development athletes.”
