Athletes competed for elite and age group national titles in an event hosted by the University of Galway and powered by Galway Triathlon Club.
Despite forecasts, the rain held off, allowing for a smooth and highly competitive race. Athletes from across Ireland came together to contest top honours in what proved to be a thrilling day of racing with strong performances across the board.
The swim unfolded in the picturesque River Corrib, where many athletes recorded personal best swim times. Following the swim, competitors tackled a fast, flat out and back bike before looping back along the new bypass to the University grounds.
Martin Mizgajski and Vanessa Fenton delivered outstanding performances to claim the men’s and women’s national titles respectively – but they weren’t the only winners on the day with Age Group Champions who also impressed with standout performances throughout the event.
