The University of Limerick, home to Triathlon Ireland’s National Triathlon Centre, was buzzing with energy and excitement as young athletes from across the region gathered for the 2025 Indoor Youth Aquathlon on Sunday 15th of June – hosted by Predator Triathlon Club.

This unique event brought together participants from the Tri Heroes A, B, and C programmes, along with the Youth Categories, many of whom were experiencing the thrill of multisport racing for the very first time. The atmosphere was filled with determination, camaraderie, and the unmistakable spirit of youth sport.

What made this aquathlon truly stand out was its innovative indoor format. The swim segment took place in UL’s world-class 50-meter pool, which was creatively configured to simulate an open water circuit—a rare and exciting twist that challenged the athletes’ adaptability and endurance in a controlled environment.

Following the swim, athletes transitioned into the run leg around the campus’s “Maguire’s Fields” cheered on by enthusiastic supporters. This participation event was a great celebration of the growing popularity of triathlon among younger age groups.

Predator Triathlon Club’s expert organisation and welcoming atmosphere ensured a smooth and memorable experience for all involved. From first-timers to seasoned young athletes, every participant left with a sense of achievement and a spark for future multisport adventures. The club would like to acknowledge all those that contributed to this innovative format, UL Sports Arena, The National Triathlon Centre, The Limerick Red Cross, Race Officials, our club volunteers that travelled from Galway and especially all those parents that rose early and travelled far.

Congratulations to all the young triathletes who took part — you are the future of the sport!
