Officiating and Safeguarding
Important Information regarding Safeguarding as a Technical Official
From 2020, all ROI Technical Officials officiating where junior athletes are eligible to compete, must be Garda Vetted and have completed relevant training. In ROI this is Safeguard One and in Northern Ireland this is the Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport course. The face to face qualification expires after 3 years and the refresher course can be completed to update the qualification.
This can be done after 3 years twice (after 3 years and after 6 years from the original course) at which point a face to face course should be attended again.
Triathlon Ireland recognises the need for a support network for our valued technical officials and in response, we hold Safeguarding One courses periodically.

In the Republic of Ireland Local Sport Partnerships (LSPs) regularly run safeguarding programmes, we recommend contacting your LSPs to enquire about their next available course. Please see map for your nearest Local Sport Partnership and contact details below
