The countdown is on to the Triathlon Ireland Awards Night 2026, as the Irish triathlon community prepares to come together for an evening celebrating another outstanding year of racing, achievement and community.

Triathlon Ireland Awards 2026

Taking place on Saturday 7th November 2026, at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, the Awards Night will bring athletes, clubs, coaches, volunteers, officials and supporters together to mark the highlights of the 2026 season.

 

As well as recognising the people and performances that have shaped the year, the evening will see our National Champions crowned, alongside the winners of the Triathlon National Series and Duathlon National Series.

 

Public voting is now open, so make sure you have your say and recognise the people, races and moments that have made an impact on the sport this year.

The Triathlon Ireland Awards shine a light on the people and events that make our sport what it is, from outstanding performances on the race course to the commitment and energy that exists behind the scenes.

The public can vote across the following awards:

VOTE TRIATHLON IRELAND AWARDS 2026

Race of the Year

Any race which hosted a Major Event in 2026 shall be eligible for the Race of the Year Award. The award will be decided by a mixture of public vote, technical criteria, marketing activation and a panel of Triathlon Ireland staff members. The technical criteria will consist of Event Organisation (submission of event plan; quality of marshals, transition, finish line and entertainment); Technical Officials report, Race Marketing, Communication with Triathlon Ireland and race officials and speed of submission of race results. Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year Award aims to shine a light on the remarkable work of volunteers around the country by celebrating them on a national level. The award is a unique opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to ordinary people doing extraordinary work across the country. Any current member of Triathlon Ireland is eligible to win this award, which will be decided by a panel of Triathlon Ireland staff members. Enter here

Club Coach of the Year

This award recognises a Triathlon Ireland qualified club coach, working with either adults or juniors, who has gone above and beyond to support and beyond to support their athletes and wider community in a safe, fun and athlete centred environment. We are seeking nominees who have made an outstanding contribution through coaching, guidance and development, while showing a strong commitment to their own growth and a genuine passion for coaching.
Note: Coaches must have all Safeguarding, First Aid and Anti Doping certs up to date and must be a current member in order to be considered. Enter here

Lynne Algar Spirit of Triathlon Award

This award recognises those individuals who illustrate the principles of the positive spirit of the sport as displayed through acts of sportsmanship and leadership in multisport, with no deference to athletic ability. Any current Triathlon Ireland member shall be eligible for nomination in this category and can include (but is not limited to); athletes, coaches, volunteers, technical officials, club committee members and race directors. Every nomination tells a story about the contribution someone has made to triathlon in Ireland, whether through competition, coaching, volunteering, organisation or simply creating a welcoming environment for others.

Additional awards

Alongside the public vote, a number of awards are decided through Triathlon Ireland’s internal nomination and selection processes. These awards are not open for public nominations.

Club of the Year (Adult and Junior)
Recognising clubs that have excelled over the past year through participation programmes, governance, community involvement and the promotion of triathlon, while also planning strongly for the future. Nominations must be submitted by club committees only. Enter here

Technical Official of the Year
Honouring the dedication, fairness and professionalism of our Technical and Motorcycle Officials.

Caroline Kearney Award
Recognising exceptional contribution to the sport of triathlon by a female athlete.

High Performance Athlete of the Year
Celebrating the most inspiring and exceptional performance by a Triathlon Ireland Performance Centre athlete who has delivered the most outstanding performance over the past year. It acknowledges their standout performance, whether through breaking records, achieving remarkable victories, or displaying extraordinary leadership in their sport

High Performance Paratriathlete of the Year
Recognises and celebrates the most outstanding performance by a paratriathlete over the past year. Whether through remarkable victories, record-breaking achievements, or exceptional sportsmanship, this award celebrates the athlete’s standout performance and their contribution to the growth and visibility of paratriathlon.

High Performance Junior Athlete of the Year
Recognises and celebrates the most outstanding performance by a Junior athlete over the past year. This prestigious award is given to an individual who, despite their youth, has demonstrated exceptional talent, determination, and competitive excellence in their sport.

Tri-Team Age Group Award
Celebrating commitment, performance and team spirit from Irish athletes competing at World Triathlon and Europe Triathlon events.

Hall of Fame Award

HALL OF FAME 2026

The Triathlon Ireland Hall of Fame stands as one of the highest honours in our sport recognising and celebrating those whose achievements, dedication and influence have left a lasting legacy on triathlon and multisport in Ireland. 

We welcome nominations for athletes, coaches, organisers, officials and volunteers who have made a real impact are recognised at the highest level.

Nominations will be reviewed by the Hall of Fame Selection Panel, which includes Triathlon Ireland leadership and community representatives.

A night to celebrate swim, bike, run!

Join the Triathlon Ireland community as we come together and recognise the dedication behind the results – from the athletes who have raced at national and international level, to the coaches guiding the next generation, volunteers giving their time, technical officials keeping events running safely, and clubs creating opportunities for people to get involved.

The evening will also celebrate the achievements of our National Championship medallists, as well as those who have competed throughout the year in the Triathlon National Series and Duathlon National Series.

A look back at SOME OF last year's winners

Last year’s Awards provided a night to celebrate the people and performances that made 2025 so special.

2025 Triathlon Ireland Award winners individual

Among the winners were Hollie Elliott, named Athlete of the Year following an impressive international season; Tom Williamson, who claimed Paratriathlete of the Year after two World Triathlon Para Series podiums; and Senan McDonnell, who was recognised as Junior Athlete of the Year.

Majella Diskin took the International Age Group Athlete of the Year award after an exceptional season on the international stage, while Carlota Izquierdo was named Technical Official of the Year.

The Caroline Kearney award went to Diane Cordner, whose work has helped create opportunities and pathways for women across the sport 

The community awards recognised the contribution of Bernie Magorrian Volunteer of the Year, Madeline Crawford Club Coach of the Year, and Jason Tivy for the Spirit of Triathlon Award , while Athlone Triathlon Club was named Club of the Year.

The Race of the Year award went to the Two Provinces Triathlon, organised by Lanesboro Triathlon Club, while photographer James Wright won Photograph of the Year for Deep Dive, captured at Loughrea Triathlon.

The evening also saw Kevin Morgan inducted into the Triathlon Ireland Hall of Fame, recognising his pioneering contribution to the development of triathlon in Ireland.
