2024 Major Events Calendar

2024 race season is only two months away with a total of 61 Major Events. Kicking us off is the Duathlon National Series on 21st January at Naas Galco Duathlon.

We’ve got all the hotly anticipated details of the Duathlon National Series, Triathlon National Series and the various National Championship races that will form the backbone of nine months of swimming, biking and running right across the Island of Ireland. Get ready for the best race season yet!

Membership

With the 2024 race season fast approaching, now is a great time to join, renew or gift a Triathlon Ireland Membership. 

Full Membership for 2024 starts at just €79 for club members (€92 for non club members) – that’s just €1.50 per week and gives you:

  • Annual Membership – If you’re racing more than twice this year, a Full Membership is cheaper than purchasing multiple one day memberships.
  • Race Series Eligibility – Only members can score points in the Duathlon and Triathlon National Series, and compete for a national championship.
  • World Triathlon / Europe Triathlon Racing – Only members get to be part of Tri Team Ireland and represent their country at the World and European championships;
  • Membership Discounts – Only members get to access the growing list of discounts and offers we are putting together on triathlonireland.com 
  • Insurance Cover – Third party and personal accident cover for training on your own, racing in a sanctioned event or  training with an affiliated club.

2024 Duathlon National Series

The Duathlon National Series will see 11 events host rounds from winter right through to spring.

Beginning on January 21st, the series kicks off at the Naas Galco Duathlon, the first of two races at the Mondello Racetrack. Following this the series will also be raced at a variety of locations including Waterford TC’s Tramore Duathlon, Limerick TC’s  Duathlon, Flat Out Duathlon and at the concluding round, Belpark TC’s Phoenix Park Duathlon on April 21st.

Scoring is based on an athlete’s best two series results + the Duathlon National Championships. 

2024 Triathlon National Series

Not even one month after the conclusion of the Duathlon Series, it’s time to hit the water for the first race of the Triathlon National Series, the Camida Clonmel Triathlon on May 12th. 

Throughout a span of five months, 21 races will take place, featuring stages of the series at various locations across the country.

With 12 sprint distance races, 8 standard and 1 middle distance there’s something for everyone, to build a season to fit your lifestyle and goals.

To be in with the chance of winning an Age Group Medal at the end of the season, athletes must race four events (one sprint, one standard and two of any other distance) for a final qualifying score.

Club Triathlon National Series

Any club member who meets the criteria for competing in the Triathlon National Series is also included in the Club Triathlon National Series.

There are three categories: Male, Female and Mixed. Six athletes make up the total points for each series. The top six male Triathlon National Series athletes of a club make up the total points for the Male Club Series. The top six female Triathlon National Series athletes of a club make up the total points for the Female Club Series. A mix of three female and three male Triathlon National Series athletes from a club make up the total points for the Mixed Club Series.

Representing your club alongside your training buddies is one of the top highlights of the Triathlon National Series.

Junior National Series

Athletes must race four sprint races to be in with the chance of winning a Junior National Series title at the end of the season. 

2024 National Championships

There are also plenty of National Championship titles up for grabs in 2024.

Winning a national title is the ultimate honour and 2024 will bring varied and exciting opportunities for overall and Age Group honours.

2024 Youth Series

The Youth Series takes in 14 of Ireland’s best triathlons, duathlons and aquathlons for 12-17 year olds4

Starting in April and running right through to September, athletes get to test themselves against their peers on land and in the water to see who will take home the Series titles.

To qualify for a final score in the Youth Series, an athlete must complete three events. Scoring is based on the athletes highest accumulated points.
