Coaching Accreditation

All Triathlon Ireland coaches are accredited by Sport Ireland Coaching.

In 2017, Triathlon Ireland piloted a programme with World Triathlon and our Level 1 and Level 2 courses are aligned with World Triathlon through their Coach Education Partnership Programme.

Junior (Under 18) Coaching Enquiries

Due to safeguarding requirements for junior coaching, all under-18 coaching enquiries must be checked in advance.

For confirmation that a coach’s safeguarding requirements are fully up to date, please contact:

A junior coach is a qualified coach who has completed all required safeguarding checks, including:

• Garda Vetting and/or Access NI

   

• Annual signed Code of Conduct

   

• Safeguard 1 / Safeguarding Children & Young People in Sport certification

   

A parent or guardian should contact Triathlon Ireland first before engaging a coach.

Many triathlon clubs also operate junior programmes with appointed Children’s/Welfare Officers and qualified junior coaches.

• Completion of a 3-day interactive and practical coaching course

   

• Accredited by Sport Ireland Coaching

   

• World Triathlon accredited (if course completed after 2017)

   

• Covered under Triathlon Ireland insurance

   

• Signed TI Code of Conduct

   

• WADA Coach True (Anti-Doping Education) certification

   

• Safeguarding certification

   

• Annual revalidation and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

   

TI Level 2 Coaches

• Completion of a 5-day interactive and practical course with post-course assessments

   

• World Triathlon accredited (if course completed after 2017)

   

• Covered under Triathlon Ireland insurance

   

• Signed TI Code of Conduct

   

• WADA Coach True (Anti-Doping Education) certification

   

• Safeguarding certification

   

• Annual revalidation and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
