Success for Jackson at XTERRA Belgium

Kieran Jackson continued his early season good form with a great win in XTERRA Belgium last Saturday. For the uninitiated, XTERRA is a cross country triathlon where triathletes complete an Olympic Distance 1,500m swim, 40km mountain bike up steep trails and technical mountain descents and finish with a trail run that can include natural obstacles such as gullies, rocks and even shallow river crossings!

A strong swim saw Kieran bridge across from the amateur wave start to move through the back of the pro field. Despite some ‘adventures’ on the bike, Jackson maintained his lead in the amateur field.

Jackson has been accumulating some consistency in run training this year which shone through on lap 2 of the run where he was able to pick off 6 of the pro field as they ran through the ups and downs of the hilly terrain. Finishing in first overall place in the amateur race and a fantastic fifth place in the overall pro field despite having started 2 minutes later. Kieran has qualified to compete in the pro XTERRA races and is looking forward completing some more of these in the season ahead alongside his triathlon racing.

Thanks to Damien Jackson for the images and race report from Xterra.
