Sanctuary Runners Sports Gear Appeal 2022

Triathlon Ireland is organising a Sports Gear Collection to support the Sanctuary Runners. We are asking our clubs and members to consider donating running gear so that it can benefit this amazing group of runners.

Been meaning to do a gear clear out? Now is the time!

About The Sanctuary Runners

The Sanctuary Runners, founded in January 2018, is a movement which uses running, jogging and walking to bring together asylum seekers, refugees and those in wider Irish society. Under the principles of solidarity, friendship and respect they use running as a bridge and take the innovative approach of doing something with rather than for people seeking international protection in Ireland. The Sanctuary Runners have 30 groups around Ireland and 4,000 participants. More information can be found on the Sanctuary Runners website at www.sanctuaryrunners.ie or their social media accounts.

What to Donate

The Sanctuary Runners would be delighted to accept your unwanted sports gear and running shoes for their members. So if you have shoes with miles in them still or training gear with life in it yet, please consider donating them.

Items are needed for men, women and children. The sports gear below is what is needed most:

  • Running shoes
  • Running shorts
  • Running leggings
  • T-shirts
  • Running jackets
  • Sports Bras
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Fleece Tops
  • Waterproof jackets

Please ensure that runners still have miles in them. Good quality and clean items are appreciated.

How to Donate

We are calling on our clubs to collect gear from their members. If your triathlon club is taking part, they will let you know how to drop-off kit to them.

Club Donations

Club committees have been emailed details of how to arrange club collection and donation.

All clubs and members should adhere to COVID-19 Public Health Guidelines during gear drop off and collection. Organise to be outdoors as well as mask wearing where appropriate.

Got a Question?

If you have a question about the appeal or how your club can get involved, please send an email to Joanna Doran at digital@triathlonireland.com.
