Cycling Study Volunteers
Well known triathlon coach Eanna McGrath is undertaking a PhD research project in Trinity College Dublin investigating methodologies for determining 60-min critical power on a bicycle and is seeking 40 volunteers, between the ages of 18-40 to participate in his research.
Functional threshold power (FTP) is a variable determined by performing a 20-minute all-out time-trial with a power-metre, averaging the power output throughout this time and taking 5% away.
Many cyclists and triathletes are using their FTP as a training tool instead of undergoing multiple laboratory based tests.
This investigation will incorporate and overlap; laboratory measurements, the FTP test, and a full 60-min time-trial result.
