National Aquathlon Champs – Get Your Entry
2017 Aquathlon Championships
National championship racing returns to Athlone for the first time in a number of years next month with the staging of the 2017 National Aquathlon Championships on Saturday July 22nd.
The country’s best swim-runners will line out in Coosan Point, just outside of the Athlone town, for the prestigious event, which will crown a national champion for 2017 in the men’s and women’s races.
National Aquathlon Age Group medals will also be contested across each male and female adult category.
Race Details
This year’s race race consists of a 1000m swim at Coosan point in Lough Ree followed by a 5km out and back course along roads approaching the lake from Athlone.
With a sheltered swim and a reasonably flat run course, this year’s championships promise to the one of the fastest in recent years.
Kids & Junior Races
As well as hosting a senior race, this year’s Aquathlon National Champs will incorporate a Kids’ Aquathlon Festival for those under the age of 11, allowing them to take part in a fun, non-competitive event with the emphasis on participation.
For older kids, National Championship medals will be on offer for Youths aged 12-15 and Juniors aged 16-19.
