Training Update 24/04/2020

We hope that all of our community is keeping safe and well at the moment. Today we would like to give you an update around some elements of training.

Club Training

In line with current Government Guidelines, we have extended the date for suspension of club training from the 30th of April to the 5th of May. We will provide an update over the coming weeks as regards how to proceed after the 5th of May.

Open Water Swimming

It is against Government Guidelines to take part in Open Water Swimming as a form of exercise. Please do not use open water swim venues for recreation or exercise. It is important to consider the effect on an already stretched healthcare service if you were to get into trouble in the open water.

You can read the Government, Irish Coast Guard and RNLI advice in relation to this here.

We have produced some FAQs on Training and Covid-19, which you can read here.

Online Sessions

Triathlon Ireland is bringing you daily at-home sessions to take part in. Each day the sessions are loaded to our Facebook and YouTube channel, you can then take part live at the scheduled time or you can replay at a time that suits your schedule. We also have two turbo workouts and a weekly Zwift social spin.

DAY TIME TOPIC
Monday 6pm Cooking with Nutritionist Fiona O’Donnell
Tuesday 8am Strength for Triathletes with Lynne Algar
Wednesday 7pm Mid-week Zoom Turbo Workout with Gary Crossan
Thursday 8am Core Workout with National Head Coach Michael Black
Friday 8am Pilates for Triathletes with Anna Frankland
Saturday 9am Weekend Zoom Turbo with Gary Crossan
Saturday 10am Kid’s Exercise Class with Eleanor Condon

So far we have had some great Sunday Virtual Spins with triathletes Russell White, Ailbhe Carroll and Bryan McCrystal leading and answering questions. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to get all the information on the sessions and to sign up for the Zoom and Zwift workouts. Enjoy!

As the situation with Covid-19 is constantly evolving, we will be in touch with updates over the coming weeks as and when they happen. If you do have any questions, you can always reach any member of our staff, who are all currently working from home. Contact details are in the Staff Directory.
