World University Games 2026

Triathlon Ireland’s High Performance Programme will be represented by five athletes at the FISU World University Championship Triathlon, taking place in Nyon, Switzerland, on 8th – 9th August 2026.

The Championships bring together the world’s top university triathletes to compete in individual and Mixed Team Relay events, providing valuable international racing experience for emerging athletes.

The team will compete against leading student-athletes from across the globe as part of Triathlon Ireland’s High Performance pathway, with racing taking place across the individual events on Saturday before concluding with the Mixed Team Relay on Sunday.

About the Championships

The FISU (Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire) World University Championship Triathlon will take place in Nyon, Switzerland on 8th and 9th August 2026, bringing together the world’s leading university triathletes to compete for international honours.

The Championships showcase the highest level of university triathlon while promoting FISU’s values of excellence, passion and friendship and celebrating the diversity of student-athletes from around the world.

Nyon has built a strong reputation for delivering international competition and is one of the largest triathlons in Switzerland, and this year will mark the second time in ten years that the event has hosted the FISU World University Championship Triathlon.

About the course

The Championships will be held at the Colovray Sports Centre in Nyon, located on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman). Where the swim takes place with an in-water start. The bike course is raced on fully closed roads through the surrounding countryside and features a mix of climbs and descents. The run course is held on closed paved roads around the venue and follows a fast, predominantly flat route.

The Championships provide another opportunity for Triathlon Ireland’s High Performance athletes to gain valuable international racing experience while competing against the best student triathletes in the world.
