Team Ireland athletes delivered a series of impressive performances on the international stage over the weekend, with Hannah Kennedy, Emma O’Brien and Saoirse O’Brien all securing strong results in highly competitive fields across Hungary, Austria and Canada.
Hannah Kennedy enjoyed a successful weekend at the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup in Tiszaujvaros, Hungary, first securing victory in her qualification race on Saturday before going on to finish 10th in Sunday’s Junior Women’s Final.
Kennedy delivered a composed performance on the super-sprint course against some of Europe’s leading junior athletes, and crossed the line in 42:28 to claim 10th place overall.

At the Europe Triathlon Cup in Wels, Austria, Emma O’Brien battled demanding conditions, air temperatures reaching almost 37°C, to secure 16th place in a strong Elite Women’s field.
A solid swim and working hard in the bike pack over the 22km course resulted in O’Brien being firmly in mix within the large Wels field. Coming home inside the top 20 at Wels is one of Emma’s PB performances at the level.
Emma was pleased with the result as she outlines:
Across the Atlantic, Saoirse O’Brien delivered her best result at the level in the Americas Triathlon Cup Montreal, finishing 12th in a competitive Elite Women’s field.
With a front pack swim, O’Brien displayed her bike strength in the pack before securing her top 12 finish on the run. O’Brien ultimately crossed the line in a time of 1:00:21.
