The National Post Primary School Championships are back! Hosted by Athy Triathlon Club, the exciting event will take place in Narraghmore, County Kildare, as part of the Junior Flat Out Duathlon.
The highly successful event is part of the Youth Series supported by AIG Insurance, and attracts hundreds of young athletes every year to take on the run-bike-run challenge.
We invite all young energetic athletes to join and get a taste of the sport, and we look forward to welcoming back our returning athletes as they take on the course again!
Individual entries are open via our Race Calendar and athletes can declare for their school as part of the entry process.
Open to: all aged 9 – 19 years.
Date: 27th April 2025.
Time: 9:00 – 12:00
Race format: Run 1 , Transition 1, Cycle, Transition 2, Run 2. (Distances very depending on age – see below).
A duathlon race involves a run, a cycle and a run of varying distances, depending on age, incorporated into a single race and is suitable for junior athletes of all abilities. We have some great beginner programmes to prepare in the lead up to the event. Please contact our Development Officer, Denise at denise@triathlonireland.com to enquire.
Junior athletes will collect points for their school, based on finishing positions in their respective races. Schools with the highest points from scoring athletes will be crowned National Duathlon Champions 2025.
Distances vary depending on age groups. See below for details.
Each athlete will participate in their respective age group, completing the distances appropriate to that race.
Championship points will be awarded to the first 10 finishers in each gender in each age group as follows:
Male and Female in each age group:
The points for each school will be calculated as the total of the top 5* competitors (i.e. top 5 points scorers) for each school, across all age groups and genders. If schools are tied on points, a tie breaker (based on the highest number of 1st place athletes, and then the highest number of participants) will be used.
*May be reduced depending on the number of athletes entered in advance of the race.
