Weekend Preview: Team Ireland Season Opener
The wait is over! This weekend Team Ireland triathletes are back in action, and it’s all to play for. The team has travelled to both Abu Dhabi and Chennai to kick off the international season.
The WTCS and Para Cup in Abu Dhabi signals the start of an important season for Irish triathletes, as Triathlon Ireland High Performance Director Gordon Crawford outlines:
“Abu Dhabi sees the start of the LA 2028 Olympic cycle. This cycle is about new beginnings and new opportunities for our athletes to race and perform internationally. Abu Dhabi provides our Mixed Team Relay (MTR) an opportunity to start their Olympic campaign, working and performing together over the next four years.”
“The weekend’s racing starts with James in his second WTCS race, Chloe and Aoibh opening their season and seeing the progress made over the winter across swim, bike and run. Finally, the MTR will start their new Olympic campaign, performing together on the big stage as a team.”
