Skerries Triathlon – Gallery

On Sunday 18th of August 2024, The National Series and Youth Series visited Skerries 41th Triathlon, with over 250 young athletes from the age of 7 to 17 and over 600 senior athletes having the chance to race on this iconic course, first established in 1983. Hosted by Fingal Triathlon Club this course boasted it’s natural beauty fit for a triathlon, with a clear sheltered 750 metre swim beach entry, exit at ‘The Springers’ A fast 20km cycle on closed roads hugging the coastline of Skerries. A pancake flat 5km run along the coast with hundreds of supporters cheering Athletes across the finish line! The only thing to make this course better was the clear blue skies!

For the Men’s National Series Sprint Triathlon, Alan Maher was first out of the water with a time of 00:12:32. Ben Butler had the fastest bike with a time of 00:33:33. Leo Corey had the quickest run with a time of 00:16:48. In the end Alan Maher finished first 01:08:37, Ciaran Kyle coming in second 01:08:50 and Eddy O’Byrne placing in third 01:08:50.

For the Women’s National Series Sprint Triathlon, Aisling Wire claimed victory with an impressive time of 01:12:25. In second place was Orla McGandy coming in at 01:18:44. Cathy Cunningham came in third at 01:20:26.

Aqua Bike – Male Podium First place: Toby Bedell 01:08:17, Second place Kenneth Nolan 01:09:44, Third place Declan O’Donoghue 01:10:00. Female Podium: Nicola Kehoe 01:12:23, Anne Cooper 01:12:27, Anna Lawther 01:16:35,

Junior 7-9 –  Male podium: In first place Cian Lawler at 00:16:48, Kian Boylan in second place 00:17:12, Eli Quinn 00:17:32. Female podium: Grace Tangney first 00:18:21, Sophie Cullen in second 00:18:26, Anna Loubatiere in third 00:18:27

Junior 10-11 The male podium in first place came Max Quinn 00:23:10, In second Ryan Smith 00:24:13, in third Ryan Moran Dromgoole 00:24:27. Female Podium: Eve Harrison coming in first at 00:23:55, Rachel Smith in second with 00:24:57, and coming in third was Maya Topalova at 00:26:17

Junior 12-13- Male Podium: Thomas Byrne came in first at 00:36:41, Ben Storey in second at 00:37:32, in third Paul Devine 00:37:49. Female Podium: In first Anna Brett at 00:37:45, in second Lara Woods 00:41:04 in third Maria Devine at 00:41:05

Junior 14-15 male podium: Evan Tosh in first at 00:36:22, Gearoid Touhy in second 00:39:46, Eoin Mulkerrins 00:40:08. Female podium: Lara Buck in first 00:42:07, Lara O’Brien Leahy in second at 00:44:23, Amy O’Rourke in third at 00:45:00

Junior: Male Podium; Darragh Lazenby in first at 01:09:33, Jude Williams in second  01:12:07, David McClean in third at 01:15:57. Female Podium: Emerald Tynan in first at 01:13:44, Zoe Hughes in second at 01:14:14, in third was Aining Zhan 01:21:47.

The event was marked by strong community spirit, with supporters cheering throughout the course to motivate the athletes. Fingal Triathlon Club and it’s volunteers did a fantastic job of ensuring it was a safe and fun race all the way through!
