Women’s Triathlon & Aquathlon info session
Women's Triathlon
A sprint distance triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) for women aged 16+ is set to be part of the Lough Cutra Castle Race Series in Gort on May 25th. The aim is to encourage women from all over Ireland who are new to the sport, women who have previously completed New-to-Tri and Try-a-Tri programmes or events, and for women who, for various reasons, haven’t participated in a triathlon for a while to re-engage with the sport.
The perfect location of Lough Cutra offers a safe and inclusive environment, which is key for this Women’s Triathlon to happen. Triathlon Ireland staff and ‘Beyond the Line’ Advocates will also be there to support you as you take on this challenge.
WOMEN’S BEGINNER AQUATHLON
The Women’s Beginner Aquathlon is a friendly and social introduction to triathlon, offering a perfect opportunity for beginners to get a taste of triathlon and meet new people. This event will take place on Sunday 24th March, at Omagh Leisure Complex and is open to all women aged 18+. It consists of of a 200m pool swim and a 4000m track run; there will be no cutoff times at the event, and plenty of support along the way.
Our main aim for both of these events is to ensure that every woman experiences a sense of achievement and accomplishment, free from competitive racing.
Women in Sport Lead, Eleanor Condon shares her excitement for the events, “We’re super excited about this event at Lough Cutra! Over the past few years, we’ve seen many amazing women taking part in the New-to-Tri and Try-a-Tri programmes. This event is a fantastic chance to join in the fun of racing within a friendly, safe, and inclusive environment. You’ll be surrounded by amazing, like-minded women, with the full support of Triathlon Ireland”
