Pulse Port Beach Triathlon | Round 17
The day started with last minute shift to a Duathlon due to poor visibility over the sea. The 400 athletes were not deterred and got ready for the rolling run start. They started fast with Anthony O’Brien opening up a gap over the first 3km in the men’s race. In the women’s race Helen Perry running the fastest time however due to the rolling start Vanessa Fenton entered T1 first. In the men’s race 3 men came into T2 together, Anthony O’Brien, James Graham, and Colm Turner. With 1km to go Anthony and Colm had broken away from James and were neck and neck, Anthony had the extra speed to kick towards the end. With the new course design it meant that the entire 1km was easily watchable for the crowd! James Graham maintained his third place. In the women’s races close finishes were all on the cards, Vanessa Fenton lead onto the run, with Kathryn Fahy close behind. Helen Perry was in third. Kathryn Fahy passed Vanessa Fenton within the last Kilometer in front of the crowd, however with the rolling start they were shown as finishing on the same time. The results were checked and Kathryn was declared winner, and Vanessa second, and Helen Perry came in third.Full results can be found HERE
