2022 Major Events Calendar

2022 is just around the corner and by this time next month, the season will be underway with the first race of the Duathlon National Series.

We’ve got all the details of the duathlon series, the Triathlon National Series, the Youth Series supported by Costcutter and the various National Championship races that will form the backbone of nine months of swimming, biking and running right across the island of Ireland.

Many of these races are already open for entry on the Race Calendar.

Now is also a great time to renew your Triathlon Ireland Membership. Full Membership means you are insured for an unlimited number of sanctioned races, plus it provides insurance for training and for club activities. We’ve also got some great benefits like our €20 voucher for Cycle Superstore and there’s more in the pipeline for 2022.

2022 Duathlon National Series

Next season’s Duathlon National Series will see nine races host rounds from the winter right through to the spring.

Beginning with the Naas Galco Duathlon on January 18th (the first of three races at Mondello Racetrack), the series be raced at Waterford TC’s Tramore Duathlon and the Metalman Duathlon, at the Hardman Killarney Duathlon, at Belpark TC’s Phoenix Park Duathlon and at the concluding round, the Old Head of Kinsale Duathlon on March 24th.

Scoring is based off an athlete’s best two results + the Duathlon National Championships. Please note: athletes must complete the required two series events + National Championships to be eligible for overall or age group awards and must be members of Triathlon Ireland.

2022 Triathlon National Series

Just one month after the conclusion of the Duathlon series, it’s time to hit the water for the first race of the Triathlon National Series.

This year’s National Series is larger and more varied than ever before. Over the course of four months, 27 races will host rounds of the series in locations right around the country.

With 14 sprint distance races, 7 standard (aka Olympic distance) and seven middle distance events there’s no end of ways to build your season with the Series.

Athletes must race four (one sprint, one standard/middle/long and two of any distance) for a final score and to be in with the chance of winning an Age Group of overall prize at the end of the season.

Youth Series Supported by Costcutter

In June the Youth Series supported by Costcutter makes its return for a second season!

Last year was an amazing summer of racing for our teenage triathletes with incredible performances, lots of can-do attitude and buckets of fun.

Over nine rounds athletes will get to compete across duathlons, aquathlons, and triathlons for the top prizes in three age groups.

Scoring is based on the highest accumulated points across an athlete’s best three (3) events across the series.

National Championships 2022

And finally, there are no fewer than 14 national championship titles up for grabs in 2022, hosted by 13 fantastic races. Winning a national title is the ultimate honour for a domestic triathlete and 2022 will bring varied and exciting opportunities for overall and Age Group honours.
