Youth Series supported by Costcutter Preview – Round 1 Loughrea

The first race in the Youth Series supported by Costcutter takes place at the Loughrea Triathlon Festival which will see Predator Triathlon Club host the Junior National Championships and the National Children’s Triathlon Festival.

It is the biggest junior triathlon in Ireland and one of the reasons is the very picturesque location of the event. Loughrea Lake boasts a Blue Flag Beach with great amenities.

About Loughrea

The swim is in a crystal clear area with a large beach. Children come from all over the country to take part but the course is not an easy one (the cycle has a nice hill half way through the race!). The event begins at 10:15am and includes four different age group races for juniors ranging in age from 7 to 15. Swim distances vary from 100 to 500 metres, the cycle from 2 to 11 kilometres and the run from 800m to 3km. The entire route is held on closed roads.

For the first time ever, teenage athletes will get the chance to compete against one another in a season-long competition, with the introduction of a new exciting race series. The series will have a focus on fun and participation providing the athletes with a safe and inclusive environment to make life-long memories with both old and new friends. This racing experience is designed to provide a platform for everyone to stay involved in triathlon for many years to come. The Youth series will be run alongside existing senior events to provide that big-race experience. Family bragging rights are up for grabs!! For more information click here.
