2017 Reviewed – Long Distance National Championships
Killarney – always a challenge
The undulating terrain of the Hardman Triathlon in Killarney played host to the National Long Distance Championships for 2017.
Ciara O’Neill from Activmultisport Triathlon Club won the women’s National Championship race in a time of 11:56:31, while Nicola Forde of Liquid Motion Tri Club finished in a time of 12:31:51 to claim the silver National Championship position. Monica Forde representing Tri Lakes Triathlon club finished in bronze with a time of 12:52:44.
In the men’s race, Brian Sexton was the winner in a time of 10:02:00, retaining his National Long Distance Championship in the process. Paul Coughlan from Kinsale Triathlon Club and Mark Doyle from Athy Triathlon Club were second and third with times of 10:16:23 and 10:34:36 respectively.
