Celebrating the 2025 AIG Youth Awards
The 2025 AIG Youth Awards was celebrated at the University of Limerick on Sunday, 1st March 2026.
Over 50 junior athletes gathered with their family and friends to celebrate the incredible achievements of the youth triathlon community throughout 2025. During the ceremony, hosted by Triathlon Ireland’s Eleanor Condon, the awards for the Youth Series, supported by AIG and the Youth National Championships were awarded.

the future of triathlon
The event was supported by members from the Triathlon Ireland Youth Commission, who helped both before the event and during the awards ceremony. Youth triathlon representatives from the community demonstrated that the future of triathlon is in safe hands! Attendees had the chance to hear from Youth Commission members Molly Marshall and Tomás Corrigan. Fellow Youth Commission Members Cliodhna Duggan and Darragh Egan were on hand to present the podiums prize winners from the 2025 Youth National Championships hosted by Predator TC at Loughrea Triathlon.
University of Limerick (UL) is the home to the National Triathlon Centre (NTC), founded in November 2024. NTC athletes Eve Burns, Izabella Chidlow, Senan McDonnell and Jonathan Oakey took part in a panel discussion, sharing their experiences of training at the centre. UL students Senan, Izabella and Eve were also able to share what it is like studying and training at the University.
Triathlon Ireland team members Roisin MacCarthy, Laura Colhoun and Niamh O’Gorman shared updates from the 2026 Youth Series, supported by AIG. Head of Development Niamh O’Gorman discussed what programmes are available Nationwide for Youth Athletes. Laura Colhoun presented on the High Performance Development Pathway, and how young triathletes can join the pathway.
Junior Race of the Year was awarded to Athy Triathlon Club’s fantastic Junior Flat Out Duathlon, which hosted a round of the Youth Series supported by AIG and the 2025 National Primary & Post Primary School Championships.
Predator Triathlon Club were awarded Junior Club of the Year, with the club’s feedback for the award highlighting “excellent coaching and structured sessions”, alongside a programme that supports young athletes to learn, improve and enjoy the sport. The club has built a strong team culture, described as a “positive and supportive environment” .
