CoachesA key component in the Triathlon Ireland High Performance System is the provision of coaching specific to the development stage of each athlete. The high performance coaching network comprises the following coaches:High Performance CoachesSTEPHEN DELANEY - PERFORMANCE DIRECTORStephen is responsible for all aspects of Triathlon Ireland's High Performance Programmes. Stephen is the manager of Triathlon Ireland Olympic and Paralympic programmes and an experienced coach. In recent years Stephen has worked at European and World Championships from youth to senior competition and at Rio Olympics, as well as additionally coaching athletes qualifying for and competing in Ironman World Championships and World Adventure racing Championships.He is a Triathlon Ireland Level 2 Coach, Athletics Ireland Level 1 Coach and a Coaching Ireland Tutor.MICHAEL BLACK - NATIONAL HEAD COACHMichael is Triathlon Ireland's National Head Coach, working with athletes at all levels of the Triathlon Ireland High Performance Programme. Michael has an extensive background in Endurance coaching.He began coaching in 1998 and has helped athletes from a wide variety of sporting disciplines to reach their athletic goals. Michael holds a masters degree in Sports Coaching and is currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Elite Sports with a focus on elite triathletes. Michael's previous roles include working as National Development Manager with Triathlon Ireland. He spent 7 years working with Donegal Sports Partnership as a sports coordinator as well as running his sports coaching/fitness company which has been in operation since 2008. As an athlete manager he was part of Pace Sports Management in London, helping talented athletes reach their potential. His coaching philosophy is about a person centred approach, dealing with the person first and the athlete second. LYNNE ALGAR - LIMERICK PERFORMANCE COACHLynne is a High Performance Coach and Performance Manager based in Limerick working with a number of the National U23 and Junior Athletes in the Munster region. Her role includes the development of a pathway for athletes with attributes favourable to progress to elite triathlon.
