The 2025 Sprint National Championships delivered an action-packed day of racing in Lanesborough, Longford, where stacked fields competed for National Sprint Distance titles, valuable Triathlon Ireland National Series points, and Age Group National Championships.
Over 700 triathletes descended on Lanesborough on 12 July 2025 for a thrilling day of racing – that featured Draft-Legal Sprint Distance National Championships, and the Age Group National Championships – as well as a round of the Triathlon National Series!
With blue skies, wall-to-wall sunshine and temperatures soaring into the high 20’s, hosts Lanesboro Tri Club rose to the occasion – providing extra water stations and sprinklers to help keep athletes cool throughout the event.
In the draft-legal Sprint Distance National Championships, Jack Kennedy and Emma O’Brien delivered standout performances in the heat, to claim the men’s and women’s Sprint distance national titles respectively. They led a remarkable day of racing that also saw competitors crowned Age Group Sprint Distance National Champs and gain valuable points in the Triathlon National Series.
The Two Provinces race also served as a qualification race for Tri Team Ireland, offering athletes the chance to represent their country at the 2026 European Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.

Just seconds behind was Junior Patrick Cole who completed the course in 59:11 – and just one second behind him in third place was Evan Tosh with a breakthrough performance.
The Men’s top three were:
- Jack Kennedy 58:50

Meanwhile Katie Youp delivered a strong closing run powering through the field to claim the final podium position.
