2025 Duathlon National Series

Get ready to kickstart 2025 as the Triathlon Ireland Duathlon National Series returns, bringing the ultimate Run-Bike-Run challenge to some of Ireland’s best courses! 

With 7 rounds to go, the series kicks off in February and runs through to April, with the Duathlon National Championships taking place this March, hosted by Limerick Duathlon.

Both new and experienced athletes will take on the challenge, collecting points at every event they choose to compete in – with many ambitious athletes setting their eyes on the National Series Champion title, awarded at our annual awards.

How to Qualify for the Duathlon National Series

Scoring System

The series ranking is determined by the athlete’s best two series results combined with their result in the National Duathlon Championships. This ensures that consistent performance across events, as well as success at the national level, is rewarded.

Age Requirements

Sprint Distance: Athletes must be at least 16 years old by December 31st of the competition year.

Ranking System

Separate rankings are maintained for male and female athletes.

Rankings include overall standings and age group categories, ensuring fair competition for all age brackets.

Membership Requirements

Only full members of Triathlon Ireland are eligible to compete and earn National Series points.

Athletes holding an ODM (One Day Membership) are excluded from the rankings.

Exclusions

Relay teams are not eligible to earn points or participate in the National Series rankings.

This year, all National Series rounds are Sprint distance:
Run: 5km 
Bike: 20km 
Run: 2.5km

What is a Transition?

Transition is the term used to describe the changeover between the individual segments of a Duathlon.

There are 2 transitions in a duathlon: T1 between the run going into the bike and T2 after the bike going into the final run.

How much training do you need for your first duathlon?
