regional Junior Triathlon Training Hubs and Interclub coaching

Triathlon Ireland’s Junior Training Sessions and Boost Hubs are group training sessions run on a regular basis.  They give young athletes the chance to train together in a safe and fun environment.

Boost Hubs are delivered by fully qualified Triathlon Ireland Coaches with the support of Triathlon Ireland Development Officers. Interclubs are delivered by club coaches with the support of Triathlon Ireland.

Cycling Ireland and Triathlon Ireland Duathlon Skills | Ulster

Duathlon Skills Session

Type: Run, Bike, Run Session

Age: 13-17 years

About TRIATHLON Boost Hubs

Triathlon Ireland’s Regional Boost Training Hubs are open to all levels and have two tiers

  1. Triathlon Participation
  2. Triathlon Development 

Junior Training Hubs are for you if: 

  1. There is currently no local junior club in your area
  2. You have done a Tri Heroes schools programme and want to do more
  3. You are a club member and want to further develop your skills and train with others
  4. You are thinking about races and want to train to improve

Age

Sessions are for ages 8 – 17 and vary by hub. 


Sessions are aimed at both club and non club athletes but you must be a member of Triathlon Ireland to attend.

 

Equipment, Membership and Minimum Skills Requirements

 

  • You will need Triathlon Ireland Membership (see here) to participate from an insurance perspective.
  • For Duathlon Skills Sessions you will need to be able to ride a bike. 
  • For Duathlon Skills Sessions you will need access to a bicycle which is in good working order and helmet. (If your child does not have a bike or helmet but wishes to attend please let us know.)
  • For all sessions you will need Trainers / Running shoes.
  • For Triathlon or Aquathlon Sessions you will need to be able to swim comfortably out of your depth – this won’t be a requirement for every session and we will detail in the registration if there will be a swim session. 
  • For Triathlon or Aquathlon Sessions you will need swimwear, goggles and a swim hat.

Unfortunately our coaches will not be able to give swim lessons for beginners at these sessions.

Steps to sign up

Step 1: Membership 

Triathlon Ireland Membership:

Parents/Carers to register young person in advance of session.

Valid Triathlon Ireland Youth / Junior membership must be in place.

Step 2: Course / Hub Booking 

Parent/Carer should login to the Triathlon Ireland account and then sign up for each hub through the links on Triathlon Ireland Course Calendar. Filter the calendar for ‘Junior Development’ to view all hubs open for booking or search by location. 

There is usually a charge per session –  this is detailed in the booking information. 

Please note that when registering, the Parent/Carer should register with their contact details (email address and telephone number) but put the attendee’s name.
