Sports Capital Programme: Applications Open

Generic Bike Image Hook or by Crook 2018

Applications are now open for the latest round of Sports Capital Funding – a valuable way for clubs to develop sporting infrastructure and facilities.

The Programme is the largest Government support scheme for developing sports facilities and for purchasing non-personal sports equipment.

Many Triathlon Ireland affiliated clubs have benefited from the scheme in the past, however as a sport triathlon remains under-represented in sports capital grant applications.

The scheme has four objectives – if you believe your club falls within one of these categories it could be in a position to apply for the current round of funding.

  • To assist voluntary and community organisations to develop high quality, accessible, safe, well-designed, sustainable facilities in appropriate locations and to provide appropriate equipment to help maximise participation in sport and physical recreation

  • To prioritise the needs of disadvantaged areas and groups (such as people with disabilities) in the provision of sports facilities

  • To encourage the sharing of sports facilities by clubs, community organisations and national governing bodies of sport
