As part of the Women in Sport Programme, Triathlon Ireland is thrilled to present the Mind and Body Webinar Series – four empowering online webinars taking place every Thursday evening from 7.30pm to 8.30pm throughout November. Join us each week as we explore ways to strengthen both mind and body, connect with incredible women in triathlon, and take your performance and wellbeing to the next level!

Webinar 1: Foot Health for female athletes
Why it matters:
Your feet are your foundation, every stride, pedal and push depends on them.
Learn how to prevent common injuries, help improve performance and reduce pain – and stay consistent in your training.
Facilitator: Sarah O’Connell (top image) and Marie Hegarty (bottom image)- Momentum Foot and Ankle Specialists
Bio: Momentum Foot & Ankle Specialists was founded by Sarah O’Connell. Sarah is a graduate of NUI Galway and also completed a MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of Ulster in 2020. With a combination of professional qualifications and practical clinic experience for over five years, Sarah provides patients with a unique approach from routine podiatry/chiropody to biomechanics and orthotic therapy with a particular interest in sports injury rehabilitation.
Marie is a Podiatrist from Ballina, Co. Mayo. She graduated with a degree in Podiatric Medicine from NUIG in 2016 and since then she has helped people overcome lower limb pathologies and foot pain. She loves getting people back to the activities they love. She has local and international experience working in both Ireland and Dubai.

Webinar 2: Building Resilience and Psychological Safety for women in sport.
Why it matters:
Mental resilience is just as vital as physical fitness, especially for female endurance athletes. This session will explore how to manage pressure and create psychological safety in training – and life.
Facilitators: Orna Murray – Move2B.
Bio: A former international athlete, women’s health academic and recognised changemaker – Orna is a ball of energy driving sports participation forward with a particular interest in female health. A two-time Irish national squash champion and European Cross Country runner, she pairs elite sports experience with academic rigor, holding a degree in Applied Psychology (UCC) and a
Masters in Health Psychology (NUIG). Her dedication to using evidenced-based information to inform practice has positioned her as a leading voice in women’s sports participation. Through Move2B, she is using her expertise to challenge outdated narratives and ensure that sport is more inclusive, accessible and empowering for girls and women.

Webinar 3: Lifestyle Guidance on Pelvic Health for triathletes.
Why it matters: Pelvic core strength is often overlooked – but it is crucial for stability, breathing and core strength. Learn how pelvic health impacts your swimming, running and cycling and how to prevent and rectify issues.
Facilitator: Orla Crosse – Orla Crosse Physio & Yoga.
Bio: Orla Crosse, a Chartered Physiotherapist and Sports Yoga Teacher. With over 18 years of Physiotherapy experience including time as a Senior Physiotherapist in the Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry and a Master’s in Sports & Exercise Medicine, Orla’s work is all about treatment and injury prevention. Orla offers a personalised, evidence-based approach rooted in understanding the why behind your symptoms.
Women’s Health is a core focus of her practice in Clonmel. She provides specialist care for pelvic health concerns, such as issues with prolapse and continence, postnatal recovery.

Webinar 4: Women’s Physiology with a Focus on Perimenopause
Why it matters: Perimenopause can change how your body responds to training, recovery and nutrition – but knowledge is power. This session will explore hormonal shifts so you can perform your best.
Facilitator: Dr. Diane Cooper – EduFit
Bio: Dr Diane Cooper is the CEO and founder of EduFIT. She is a clinical exercise physiologist and health researcher who has designed, delivered and evaluated community-based and online evidence-based health, fitness and wellness programmes for all adults since 2002, with particular focus on women’s health and menopause, exercise and lifestyle medicine for the management of chronic clinical conditions, and healthy functional ageing.
