It’s Time to Vote! Triathlon Ireland Awards 2025

The Triathlon Ireland Awards 2025 celebrate the very best of our sport, recognising the top achievements and most inspiring individuals across the season. From high performance athletes to grassroots racing, and from dedicated coaches and clubs to the volunteers who make it all possible, this is our chance to honour everyone contributing to the growth and success of our triathlon community.

This year’s celebration will take place on Saturday, 8th November 2025 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin.

We want to hear from you! Public nominations and votes are now open, and we’re inviting the triathlon community to put forward the names and stories that deserve recognition. The deadline for submissions is midnight on Monday, 20th October 2025.

Whether you’ve been swimming, biking, running, volunteering, coaching or cheering from the sidelines — this night is for YOU.

Categories

2025 Race of the Year
Any race which hosted a Major event in 2025 shall be eligible for the Race of the Year Award. The award will be decided by a mixture of technical criteria, decided by a panel of Triathlon Ireland events and operational staff members and public vote. The technical criteria will consist of Event Organisation (submission of event plan; quality of marshals, transition, finish line) Technical Official’s report, communication with Triathlon Ireland and Race Officials and speed of submission of race results.

2025 Volunteer of the Year
The Volunteer of the Year Award aims to shine a light on the remarkable work of volunteers around the country by celebrating them on a national level. The award is a unique opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to ordinary people doing extraordinary work across the country. Any current member of Triathlon Ireland is eligible to win this award, which will be decided by a panel of Triathlon Ireland staff members.

2025 Club Coach of the Year
This award recognises a Triathlon Ireland qualified club coach, working with either adults or juniors, who has gone above and beyond to support and beyond to support their athletes and wider community in a safe, fun and athlete centred environment. We are seeking nominees who have made an outstanding contribution through coaching, guidance and development, while showing a strong commitment to their own growth and a genuine passion for coaching.

Lynne Algar Spirit of Triathlon Award

Named in memory of Lynne Algar, whose boundless energy, generosity, and love for triathlon touched everyone who knew her. Lynne was more than a talented athlete, coach, and respected sports scientist – she was a shining light in the triathlon community, someone who lifted others up, inspired belief, and gave her time and knowledge. Her legacy is one of passion, dedication, and kindness, and this award ensures that spirit continues to shine. By honouring individuals who embody the same warmth, commitment, and selflessness, the award doesn’t just remember Lynne – it carries her influence forward, keeping her spirit alive in every corner of Irish triathlon.

In that spirit, the award recognises individuals who reflect these same values through acts of sportsmanship, leadership, and service to multisport – with no deference to athletic ability. Any current Triathlon Ireland member is eligible for nomination, including (but not limited to) athletes, coaches, volunteers, technical officials, club committee members, and race directors.

This award recognises those individuals who illustrate the principles of the positive spirit of the sport as displayed through acts of sportsmanship and leadership in multisport, with no deference to athletic ability. Any current Triathlon Ireland member shall be eligible for nomination in this category and can include (but is not limited to); athletes, coaches, volunteers, technical officials, club committee members and race directors. 

“The nominee should be someone who fits one or more of the following criteria: Embodies the spirit of the sport, contributing with a selfless, inclusive attitude; Has achieved something extraordinary within or because of triathlon; Has overcome the odds to be involved in triathlon; Has inspired others to strive for their personal best within triathlon. Nominations should be a written or a video entry. Written entries should be 300 to 600 words in length and videos should be no more than four minutes in length. Entries should outline why this Triathlon Ireland member should be recognised with this award.”

Closing Date: Submit your votes and nominations for the above awards by midnight, Monday 20th October 2025.

Club of the Year (Adult and Junior)
Recognising clubs that have excelled over the past year through participation programmes, governance, community involvement and the promotion of triathlon, while also planning strongly for the future. Nominations must be submitted by club committees.

Technical Official of the Year
Honouring the dedication, fairness and professionalism of our Technical and Motorcycle Officials.

Caroline Kearney Award
Recognising exceptional contribution to the sport of triathlon by a female athlete.

High Performance Athlete of the Year
Celebrating the most inspiring and exceptional performance by a Triathlon Ireland Performance Centre athlete who has delivered the most outstanding performance over the past year. It acknowledges their standout performance, whether through breaking records, achieving remarkable victories, or displaying extraordinary leadership in their sport

High Performance Paratriathlete of the Year
Recognises and celebrates the most outstanding performance by a paratriathlete over the past year. Whether through remarkable victories, record-breaking achievements, or exceptional sportsmanship, this award celebrates the athlete’s standout performance and their contribution to the growth and visibility of paratriathlon.

High Performance Junior Athlete of the Year
Recognises and celebrates the most outstanding performance by a Junior athlete over the past year. This prestigious award is given to an individual who, despite their youth, has demonstrated exceptional talent, determination, and competitive excellence in their sport.

Tri-Team Age Group Award
Celebrating commitment, performance and team spirit from Irish athletes competing at World Triathlon and Europe Triathlon events.
