Elliott Finishes Season at World Triathlon Cup Tongyeong
Team Ireland’s Hollie Elliott has had a busy 2025 season. Now based at the National Triathlon Centre at the University of Limerick, Elliott brought her season to a close with 22nd at the recent World Triathlon Cup Tongyeong.
At the hotly contested World Cup, Hollie executed her race as planned – focussing on the swim and bike legs. An unfortunate knee injury in the weeks leading up to the trip meant the run wasn’t to be the focus. Hollie Elliott was sixth out of the water and the lead pack of eight soon formed on the bike, working together through the 20k to stay clear of the chasers.
Her P22 in Tongyeong was the second race of the block for Hollie, having finished P31 a week earlier at World Triathlon Cup Miyazaki.
On her race, Hollie commented:
“I had an unfortunate accident a couple of weeks out with my knee so lost a lot of my cycling and run prep… After the first race I realised how much it had affected my run ability and therefore the races were nothing like what I was hoping for. I switched focus for my second race to executing a good swim/bike and still achieving some process goals for these disciplines, so I can take confidence into next year.”
A Strong 2025 season
There is no doubt that Hollie Elliot achieved a huge amount across the 2025 season. Hollie achieved three top ten finishes at Europe Triathlon Cup level, her first World Triathlon Championships Series start, and was a member of the Mixed Team Relay for our first Irish team start at WTCS level – bringing lots of positives into 2026 after her first year representing Ireland.
Announced as Athlete of the Year at the Triathlon Ireland Awards, Hollie was also recently announced as one of the recipients of the Los Angeles 2028 IOC Olympic Scholarship from the Olympic Federation of Ireland.
In August, Hollie won her first National Championship Title at the Standard Distance Triathlon National Championships hosted at Newry TC’s Top of the Mourne.
Hollie is now looking forward to some down time over the off-season:
“I’m currently enjoying some down time after a really long season, and looking forward to heading to warmer weather in December and January to rebuild my fitness.”
