More than 250 budding triathletes have taken part in Triathlon Ireland’s Tri Heroes programme over the last six weeks.
Aided by the pleasant spring weather, pupils in Cork and Galway took their first steps in to triathlon, learning to swim, cycle and then run in a safe, fun and encouraging environment.
In Cobh, Tri Heroes coach Jess Bruton put the Gaelscoil through their paces with a swim, bike and run programme finishing in a mini pool triathlon. Teacher Declan O’Connell supported Jess and helped to run the mini event.
In Galway, Scoil Íde, Scoil Énde and The Claddagh National School all took part in the Tri Heroes programme. Tri Heroes coaches Anna Grealish and Padraic Benson coached the budding triathletes who will all be battling it out in a mini inter schools event in May.
And last but no means least Killeeneen National School had nearly 50 triathletes take part in the after school programme which culminated in a school duathlon event.
