Club Development Calendar 2022

Over the next few months we have a range of both in person practical sessions, online workshops and interactive opportunities for all Triathlon Ireland members.

There are sessions specifically for club committee members, TI coaches and leaders, club Children’s/ Safeguarding officers, race organisers and young members.

Courses in Brief

Junior Week

26th of September – 3rd October: Information sessions for juniors, parents and coaches to ensure children are having fun and safe sessions. Delivered by Jigsaw and Triathlon Ireland

27th September – One Good Coach

This one-hour workshop delivered by Jigsaw is for adults who train or coach young people aged 12-25 years in a wide range of sports. The workshop aims to build coaches’ understanding of mental health and the important role sport can play in promoting youth mental health.As a result of this workshop. Register here

28th September – Introduction to Coaching Children Creating Great Children’s Sport Environments workshop

The session will:

  • Explore your coaching philosophy and values in a junior environment.
  • Identify and discuss the key benefits of a holistic, multi-skill based approach to coaching sport for children.
  • Explore how we can as coaches develop a holistic approach to coaching juniors in triathlon and our clubs.

For Committees & Club Safeguarding Officers/Childrens Officers:


29th September – Setting up a junior section and role of the Safeguarding Officer.
A short workshop giving practical steps and advice to get your Clubs junior section up and running. Current junior clubs are well to attend.Register here

For Juniors

29 September – Turbo & Talk for Girls with Level 2 coach Dee Needham and athlete Ailbhe Carroll
This session will focus on female specific areas in relation to sport. Led by Level 2 coach Dee Needham with athlete Ailbhe Carroll, it’s a chance to chat about things like periods, bras for triathlon, fueling properly and anything else that comes up! Girls can submit questions anonymously in advance as part of registration or ask questions on the night. (Juniors do not need to interact or have their camera on but must register). Register here

3rd October – Turbo & Talk for all juniors with Level 2 Coach Gary Crossan and athlete Shannon Kelly. Gary Crossan will lead this session where Shannon will chat about her journey, training while studying and working and will answer any questions from the group! Juniors can submit questions anonymously in advance as part of registration or ask questions on the night. (Juniors do not need to interact or have their camera on but must register). Register here

The NSPCC Keeping Children Safe in Sport Week, 4th October – 9 October: Workshops to support parents, coaches and carers to keep children safe in sport. Delivered by working With Parents in Sport and Triathlon Ireland.

Diversity & Inclusion workshops, 15th October – 19th October: Practical workshops on disability inclusion delivered by CARA and Triathlon Ireland and online sessions delivered by CARA and the Irish Centre for Diversity

Evolve Club Development Webinars, 4th October – 9th November: Online workshops to support clubs and event organisers in engaging and managing volunteers. Delivered by Volunteer Ireland and Volunteer Now.

Coaching Masterclass series (Dates TBC) and Networking Event, 12th November: Practical Sessions and Networking day. (edited)
