New Youth Triathlon Commission 2026

Triathlon Ireland announces the new youth voice of triathlon for 2026/27

Triathlon Ireland is delighted to introduce the newest cohort of young athletes selected to join the Youth Triathlon Commission. Thirteen passionate youths representing provinces from across the country have successfully completed the application process and will now play a central role in shaping the future of multi-sport for their generation.

This Commission exists to ensure the voices of young triathletes are heard, valued, and embedded into decision-making across the organisation. Members will work closely with the Triathlon Ireland team, collaborate on youth-focused projects, and help inspire the next wave of young multi-sport athletes.

"I have been doing triathlon since I was 10. I have really enjoyed all aspects of the sport and I am keen to help develop others love of the sport."

What is the Youth Triathlon Commission?

The Youth Triathlon Commission brings together 13 young triathletes, aged 14 to 16, from across Ireland. As representatives of their peers, Commission members will:

  • Share ideas on how to improve triathlon for young people

  • Provide direct feedback on decisions affecting youth athletes

  • Support initiatives that help more young people get involved in triathlon, duathlon and multi-sport

  • Promote a positive, inclusive environment within the youth triathlon community

The group meets several times a year, both online and in person, at the Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin, the Triathlon Ireland Headquarters, and the National Triathlon Centre at the University of Limerick.

Opportunities for Youth Representatives

Being part of the Youth Commission is an exciting chance to:

  • Work with young triathletes who share a passion for the sport

  • Develop new ideas and projects that will shape the future of triathlon

  • Build valuable life skills including confidence, communication, teamwork and leadership

  • Represent youth athletes across triathlon, duathlon and multisport nationwide

  • Meet the Triathlon Ireland staff and gain insight into how national sports programmes are developed

Take part in hands-on workshops, events, and development sessions at world-class facilities

Commitment & Expectations

Commission members are asked to commit for two years where possible.

The role includes:

  • Three in-person sessions per year, including at the University of Limerick National Triathlon Centre and Dublin Sport Ireland HQ;
  • Virtual meetings with fellow Commission members and the Triathlon Ireland team;
  • Active participation in discussions, projects, and youth-related initiatives.

This is a voluntary role but one that offers significant personal and sporting development opportunities.

"Triathlon Ireland looks forward to welcoming the next generation of youth leaders and hearing the voices that will help shape the future of our sport"
