Women in Sport Week 2026
Sport Ireland launches women in sport week
Celebrating Visibility, Participation and “Same Energy” Across Triathlon
Women in Sport Week (WIS Week) returns this March, and Triathlon Ireland is proud to stand alongside Sport Ireland, National Governing Bodies, Local Sports Partnerships, clubs, coaches, officials, volunteers and communities across the country to celebrate the incredible contribution of women and girls in sport.
Visibility is one of the key pillars outlined within Sport Ireland’s Policy on Women in Sport (WIS), and WIS Week plays a vital role in supporting the policy’s objectives and actions.
First held in March 2021 and growing in impact every year since, Women in Sport Week has become a powerful and positive celebration of women’s sport and women in sport nationwide.
Women in Sport Week 2026 takes place this March, with International Women’s Day (IWD) on Sunday, March 8th, encapsulating the week.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a moment to recognise progress, challenge inequality, and continue building a more inclusive sporting landscape for everyone.

Share the Moments that Inspire you

We’ll be celebrating the “Same Energy” theme of the week through unforgettable finish-line moments… the emotion, determination and joy that define sport for everyone.
As part of this year’s celebrations, we will also hear from athletes and members as they share their favourite female sporting moments. We encourage everyone in the triathlon community to get involved – share the moments, performances, or people that have inspired you and helped shape your love of sport.
