Tri Day 2022!

Triathlon Ireland is pleased to announce that on Sunday, 8th of May at the Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin 15, we will be hosting a celebration of all things triathlon!
A day full of awards, events, food and fun – we’re calling it Tri-day! It will be a triathlon festival atmosphere, where everyone will congregate after swimming and running for their club to have some food, and see the 2021 awards being given out. We’ll have food trucks and coffee – all the essentials!
What’s Happening?
A better question might be – what’s not happening! We’ll be celebrating the 2021 season, launching the 2022 season and hosting two swim-run events!
Central to the day will be the awards for the 2021 season. At the outdoor Tri-Day Marquee, we’ll be awarding all of the awards like Club of the Year, Race of the Year, Spirit of Triathlon, Volunteer of the Year, Technical Official of the Year and Club Coach of the Year. Alongside this, athletes will be able to pick up their National Series and National Championship Age Group and Overall Medals.
If you will be attending to pick up your medals, please let us know here so that we have yours at the event.

Swimming and Running
Two aquathlon events will be held on the morning of Tri-day at the Sport Ireland Campus. Starting at 10.15am, the day is going to kick off with a Kid’s Splash and Dash, a fun aquathlon event for Under 16’s.
Swimming in the National Aquatic Centre pool and running a course through the Sport Ireland Campus, the finish line will be in the centre of the Tri-Day festivities!
There will be various distances for different ages as below:
Junior Age | Distance |
Age 14 – 15 | Swim Laps x 3 Run Lap x 2 |
Age 12 – 13 | Swim Laps x 2 Run Lap x 2 |
Age 10 – 11 | Swim Laps x 1.5 Run Lap x 1 |
Age 8 – 9 | Swim Laps x 1 Run lap – Marker 1 |
Age 6 – 7 | Swim Laps x 1 Run Lap – Marker 2 |
To enter the free Splash & Dash, the entry needs to be done through the parent/guardian’s Triathlon Ireland Account.
Get Your Clubs Ready!
After the Splash and Dash, it’s time for triathlon clubs to go head to head! Teams of three from each club can take part. Clubs can enter as many teams as they like. Teams can be three men, three women, or any combination. Athletes will cover approximately a 150m swim and 2km run course before tagging in the next athlete.
This will be a great event for all club members to take part in! Whether you are new to the sport, and want to kick of your summer with trying a pool swim followed by a run. Or maybe your a seasoned triathlete putting together a team…everyone is welcome!
If you don’t have a club team, but would like to take part pop us an email to events@triathlonireland.com. We’ll keep a list of everyone looking for a team.
Entries will be €10 per team and all proceeds will be donated to Triathlon Ireland’s Charity Partner, An Saol. An Saol is a charity founded by the families, friends, and supporters of persons affected by Severe Acquired Brain Injury (SABI). Learn about the work of An Saol in the Ireland:AM interview with Reinhart Schaler below.
