The Weekend Wrap: Manthey Makes Men’s Final in Hungary

While the Triathlon National Series had a mid-series break this past weekend, the multisport season continued in full swing!
Racing at home took place in Kilkenny, Mayo and Cork while in Hungary Ian Manthey raced at the Europe Triathlon Premium Cup Tiszaujvaros.

Ian Manthey has put together a solid string of performances in recent weeks, finishing 16th in a large Elite Men’s field at the 2022 Europe Triathlon Premium Cup Tiszaujvaros over the weekend.
Manthey finished fourth in his semi-final to move into the final, where the top 30 athletes would have the chance to race for the podium.
The final was a close run affair, with just 60 seconds separating the top 17 finishers. The men’s event was won by Csongor Lehmann (HUN) in 53:18, Radim Grebik (CZE) second and Gergely Kiss (HUN) in third. Manthey finished 16th in 54:14.

Hills of the Harbour
Midleton Cycling and Triathlon Club’s Hills of the Harbour Sprint Triathlon took place on Sunday in the glorious weekend weather.

Telus Salmon Run

In Mayo, the Telus International Salmon Run saw athletes take on the fast course around Ballina, with Stephen Donnelly and Sinead Whitelaw coming home the winners in the Liquid Motion Triathlon Club event.

Kilkenny Triathlon

Kilkenny Triathlon Club’s popular triathlon took place around the streets of the scenic city on Sunday.
Podium regulars Jennifer O’Sullivan and Colm Turner won the event, Aine Kinsella and Paul Ogle second while Amelia Drumm and Aubrey Storey were third.
