The 2025 AGM: Summary

The 2025 AGM of Triathlon Ireland took place this evening, Thursday 17th April 2025.

Since 2020 the AGM has been held virtually over Zoom, this year with 58 triathlon clubs in attendance.  The 2025 elections took place between 17:30 and 19:30 via a secure third party platform and were overseen by Mi-Voice.

The AGM was streamed live on YouTube for the Triathlon Ireland members to join.

The meeting was chaired by Triathlon Ireland president Alan Ryan. In opening, Mr. Ryan thanked the board and staff of Triathlon Ireland. Alan also spoke about the importance of the National Training Centre at University of Limerick, and working with Europe Triathlon on the international stage.

Alan thanked the community and mentioned that he has enjoyed the last four years immensely, working with fantastic people among the community and internationally.

In summarising his CEO Report within the 2024 Annual Report, Darren Coombes mentioned that 2024 was a stronger year than expected, and that the annual report reflects this.

FRANCIS YATES ELECTED AS TRIATHLON IRELAND PRESIDENT

Francis Yates from Galway Triathlon Club has been elected as President of Triathlon Ireland. The nominees in the election were Mr. Yates and Mr. Alan Ryan.

In accepting the position, Francis Yates thanked the triathlon community for the vote of confidence. Francis thanks outgoing president Alan Ryan for his work over the previous four years, as well as congratulating Finance Director Karen Lewis and Ordinary Directors Karen McGouran and David Pollard.

In closing, Mr. Yates promised to “show up, listen, stay grounded and deliver.” 

Karen Lewis was voted as Finance Director. There was also two ordinary director positions up for election. The nominees were:

Tomas Mangan (Predator TC) 
Niall McDermott (Omagh TC) 
Karen McGouran (Midlands TC)
David Pollard (Crosshaven TC)

Karen McGouran from Midlands TC and David Pollard from Crosshaven TC were elected to the position of Ordinary Director.
