Tom Williamson went to Australia with a podium on his mind and set out his stall early, coming out of the water second and right in the mix.
On the bike course a chase pack consisting of Williamson, Marques (POR), Schulz (GER) and Mocsari (HUN) spent much of the 20k trading places. In the closing stages Williamson and Germany’s Martin Schulz gapped the rest of the chase pack to come into T2 in third and fourth respectively. Up ahead, Chris Hammer (USA) and Jack Howell (AUS) were locked in a battle for the gold.
The chasers came calling early into the five kilometre run, with Tom Williamson battling through to finish sixth in the World at the 2025 World Triathlon Para Championships.
