Northern Ireland Club Development Day

This is a great opportunity for clubs to come together, network and pick up some information about recruiting volunteers, club funding, running events, setting up a junior section and making your club more inclusive.

Triathlon Ireland staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Date: Saturday, 1st April.
Location: Crowne Plaza, Belfast
Who should attend: All club members are welcome, club committee members in particular are encouraged to attend.

9.30am – 10am: arrive, tea/coffee
10.30am- 12pm:

Volunteer Now workshop: The 3 R’s, Recruit, Retain, Reward Volunteers.
Volunteers want and need to feel supported and valued during their volunteering. The organisation needs to ensure volunteers are working to the standard required. How do you ensure a balance between the needs of both the volunteer and the organisation?

Come away with useful ideas, best practice recruitment ideas, example support and supervision activities and ideas to recognise and reward your volunteers.

12pm-1pm: Lunch (provided)

1pm-2.30pm: Roundtable discussions.

  • Junior sections: Setting up and growing a junior section with Joanne McDonald and Niamh O’Gorman, TI Development manager and Safeguarding lead.
  • Events: Sanctioning and running events and using accredited marshals with Roisin MacCarthy, TI events team, Karen Lewis from Newry TC.
  • Funding: funding that is available for your club and how to apply, Amina Martin, TI NI Development Officer and Natalie Niederman, Female Sports Forum
  • Inclusion:  How to make your club more inclusive for people with disabilities with Natasha Kelly, TI para triathlon and development team.
