Club Support: Her Moves Grant

This summer Triathlon Ireland is encouraging clubs to get new teenage girls involved in triathlon and we have grants available to help clubs make this happen!

Her Moves

Her Moves is designed to inspire and support more teenage girls to be active. It’s about empowering all young women, building confidence and providing motivation to find something that gets them moving.

The 8 Guiding Principles of Her Moves are:

  • No judgement – take pressure off performance and give freedom simply to play
  • Invoke excitement – bring a sense of adventure and discovery
  • Clear emotional reward – reframe achievement as ‘moments of pride’, not winning
  • Open eyes to what’s here – redefine sport as more than traditional, competitive sport
  • Build into existing habits – tap into existing behaviours in other spheres
  • Give girls a voice and choice – allow girls choice and control to feel empowered
  • Champion what’s in it for them – make it much more than just about health
  • Expand image of what ‘sporty’ looks like – create truly relatable role models who inspire

what should our project look like?

Your project should incorporate aspects of triathlon with the 8 Guiding Principles of Her Moves listed above. You can find inspiration from some of the programmes run by other organisations, available to explore here.
