Results & Gallery: Hell of the West 2023

Michael Buckley’s Gallery of Images from an incredible day’s racing in Kilkee at Hell of the West 2023, the Standard Distance National Champs.

Emma O’Brien and Ralf Bodamer are 2023 Standard Distance National Champions after another iconic edition of Limerick Triathlon Club’s Hell of the West triathlon, Kilkee.

It was a day where grit and determination were needed to battle through tough conditions. With the swim shortened to 650 metres due to sea conditions, a blustery 40km bike and a hilly 10km run lay ahead.

Ralf Bodamer and Wicklow Tri’s Emma O’Brien emerged the winners, David Higgins and Deirdre Casey in second. Anthony O’Brien and Hilary Hughes ran two of the quickest splits of the day around the Kilkee cliff tops to secure their spots on the National Championship podium for third place.
