Bronze for Edgar in South Africa

James Edgar has followed up his bronze in Maselspoort with another third place, this time over standard distance at the Africa Triathlon Premium Cup Nelson Mandela Bay.

A Strong Field

A competitive men’s field saw Edgar ranked ninth on the start line alongside Olympians and seasoned professionals. James recounts how his race unfolded today;

“It was a good race for me the entire way through. Super rough sea swim with two laps of 750m and Aussie exits being a big decider on both laps for position”

Exiting the water with the front pack, Edgar worked with a group throughout to secure a top position heading onto the run;

“Had a strong group of ten working really well on the bike together and getting the gap up to 2:40 at the end of 40k.”

James ran an impressive 31:56 for 10k off the bike and moved up the field to come home third, his second international podium in just a few weeks.

“A solid run into third place and very happy to back up my results from a few weeks ago in Maselspoort with another podium. Hopefully more of the same next week when we head to Namibia to race on Saturday followed by Zimbabwe the following weekend, then I finally get to make a trip home after two successful months on the road.”
