Become a Technical Official

We are delighted to announce that places are now available for the 2023 online Local Technical Official (LTO) course. The course content is covered in easy-to-manage 15-minute modules which are completed virtually, in your own time, from the comfort of your home.
BEING A TECHNICAL OFFICIAL
Technical Officials (TO’s) are an integral part of triathlon and allow our sport to take place. Becoming an LTO is the first step on the Technical Official Pathway – officiating at events at a local level.
Officiating is also an extremely rewarding way to give back to the sport at a local and national level as TO Hannah Gibney tells us in her interview, available here. Becoming a Technical Official can also present opportunities to travel and officiate on the world stage from continental races, World Triathlon Series races, all the way to the pinnacle of sport as Tokyo Paralympics Technical Official, Hugh McAtamney, talks about in his interview, available here.
TO’s are able to choose when and where they officiate to suit their personal circumstances, and are compensated for their time. Plus, it’s a great chance to be part of a large group of people who are dedicated and passionate about the sport and community.

THE COURSE
The course is covered across 11 online modules each taking 15 minutes that can be completed in your own time. There will be an open book online exams throughout the modules followed by an online session for participants to ask questions and complete the final course content. Then… you can begin to Shadow Officiate at Triathlon Ireland events!
The course will begin April 10th 2023, and the live session will take place on May 24th, 2023 over zoom.
